A little while back — maybe a year or more — someone posted a Puerto Rican chilli recipe on one of the forums I frequent. Besides making for some seriously spicy and delicious chilli, the recipe itself was hilarious — filled with rather profane commentary on living cheaply.
The other day I saw an imitation of it for making a spaghetti bolognese and vinaigrette recipe. I don’t mind cussing, but I am a fan of good writing. Curse words ought to be used exactly like any other word. I believe in a perfect word for every situation. Sometimes that perfect word is a cuss word, but they’re only a little less rare than scientific latin terms.
You wouldn’t pepper your sentences with adverbs just to add humor, and you shouldn’t pepper your sentences with curses just for humor’s sake.
